New idea: Crazy or not, a (BetterPlace)Wiki for Idea Development

The post of Probir Ghosh "New ideas: Crazy or not, lets hear from you" mentioned the robotic arm discussion in WIRED. He mentioned another approach (plug-in points at each corner of the car) instead of a robotic arm.

Because of this suggestion I was thinking, together with a colleague of mine, about another way of discussing alternatives. I seems to me that a forum isn't the ideal way to discuss ideas or suggestions about new embodiments.

What if there would be a Wiki, where these kind of (rather technical) remarks can be made? This way all smart suggestions will "stick", and while time goes on, the embodiment will grow, reshape, evolve, develop in a more and more realistic/optimal form.

This way, I think, it's possible to build upon each other's idea's, thus creating a more and more realistic embodiment along the way. Whether it is a "fill her up strategy", an electric car design, or some other function that has yet to be developed.

Hope to hear from you.

I think the idea has merit. A more permanent repository of good ideas that Better Place and it's affiliates can use as a tool to solve problems and get a feel for what people would like to see from green tech, business practices, vehicles, etc.

I think it would be very customer-oriented and front-facing. Companies that are looking to keep their competitive edge probably aren't going to openly discuss trying this idea or that idea, giving away to competitors what's 'in the works'.

Still, from all of us that want to see certain things implemented or ideas move to market faster, I do think a permanent idea-base in the wiki format certainly couldn't hurt :)

Really good idea, Rob. Maybe Betterplace should set up a wiki with their 5 big wishes/questions and we could all contribute to them. Subsequently we could all share our related wishes and, again, help each other to make this world a Better Place!

A wiki is the next generation structure for moving from community discussion to community production. The existing Better Place infrastructure can easily be expanded to include a wiki. This is an excellent structure to moving to the next phase of gathering and consolidating the ideas that can be collectively formed into something useful.

Hope this is the right place for this; more questions than ideas. Hoping for answers. Why is diesel now more expensive than regular and why is the price not coming down like regular gas? Why can no one seem to reverse engineer the Prius and make a true American hybrid (as far as I know, all American hybrids are basically gas cars with electric assist, i.e. not a true hybrid). Why do we not see plug in hybrids? I drive a Volks TDI (turbodiesel:, why not hybrid diesels or turbodiesels? Enough for now, hoping for anwers.
