Alavai dozens).
The truth is, any talk of ceding land whets their appetite.
Just refraining form doing that will go a long ways.

I dont know about peace, because they still produce children by the dozen, most of whom are susceptible to Islamist supremacy propaganda. The difference is no one will care if they get their butts kicked.

Cool. Whatever it takes to stop being dependent on these low-lifes for energy.
Their chutzpah is directly proportionate to our dependence on their oil. Zero dependence will also mean instantaneous peace in the M.E.

A couple of technical points as i research the EV idea. The Electric motor is rated at continuous duty, the ICE engine at peak performance. Ergo, an electric motor rated at 75 KW (100 HP) can actually deliver much higher performance for short periods, such as acceleration. It the battery discharge rate that determines how much power you have available.
Second, electric motors are far lighter than ICE engiines. Once tha batteries shrink, as they will, the energy expediture to drive the car will decrease and the range increase dramatically. Tesla has already shown 500 KM on one charge.

Absolutely not. We have cities signed up and installing charge spots. better Place has a demo center up and running, with cars an charging and batterry exchange station. I drove an electric car. its a dream come true, tremendous acceleration and convenience galore. I have sigend upm for a blue Fluence ZE for my wife to be delivered mid 2011.

What is Israel's progress for the BetterPlace system? Or still sucking down towel head oil for years to come?

The key is battery technology, which will improve over time, and the time of day the batteries are charged. They go hand-in-hand. The longer the range, the less likely for it to be charged during peak time. For economic reasons, it doesn't make sense for a person to charge during peak time when off-peak is much cheaper.

Even with an existing range of 100 miles (160km), it is sufficient for most commuters. In your example, it takes about 50 minutes without traffic (x2 w/traffic) to drive from Beverly Hills to Downtown Los Angeles, which is 28 miles round-trip, same as the average in Israel,

Individual's distance and time varies, so I looked into gov't stats called "Mean Travel Time to Work." For 2008, the estimate one-way for California's average was 27 minutes, with the highest state being New York at 31.6 min. This estimate includes walking, driving, biking, public transportation etc.

If the network is taxed because of a few users (exceptions), pricing can be adjusted to discourage extreme use. Better Place is comparing itself to cell phones. AT&T is considering (Dec 2009) a new pricing model to curb data usage, because 3 percent of its users are consuming 40 percent of the network capacity. Problem solved.

It may be that the distance is only 30-40 miles, but in reality it is two hours. of traffic lights, congestion starts stops and turns. Airconditioner!!! all of those consume energy even while you are not moving an inch. True an EV is far more efficient than ICE at those non-moving tasks bu the battery will be taxed, make no mistake. If lots of people get to work after a 60 miniute drive (try Beverly Hills to down town LA) that battery wont get you home without a swap. It must be charged at peak hours.
The reason Israel grid wont be affected is the numbers. The entire production of renault for the Electric Fluence is less than one year's worth of new cars on the road. At some point though the mass of cars to be charged will be significant at which time regualtors might look askance at the cars and start taxing them higher
