Aloha to all

I started this forum for people in Hawaii. Although anyone of course is welcome to participate. We need to unite as a strong voice and keep the drive alive. We can not allow the momentum to slow. This state has put itself on the right track to energy independence and must see it through. Please post what you are involved or the things that you are doing to help the cause. Please contact me anytime. I hope you will find good info in this group.

Aloha from Montana. I grew up in Kau and moved to the mainland to buy car dealerships. Hawaii is the perfect place for EV's...Better Planet in conjunction with forward thinking car manufacturers will change the landscape of the Islands as far as automobile transportation is concerned...buckle up changes will happen quickly ( think Beta vs VHS, Cassette vs CD etc) ...Change it is a comin' ! Bill as far as getting rid of all the old junk cars ? $3000 trade incentive ala Cash for Clunkers will handle that...as far as Dog ? Can't help with that pilkia (mess) ...Aloha - Ken Wright

Hawaii makes sense for electric cars, as long as the cars get the treatment to keep the salt from eating away at the batteries. With Solar and wind charging, This can make Hawaii almost independent from the mainland. Only thing is people could not be able to charge from there homes as this would add a heavy tax on the grid.. The batterie changing stations make sense, but how would you get all those old crappy cars, and Dog the Bounty Hunter, off the Islands?

Hello Everyone from da Big Island...Shai Agassi, the pres. of Better Place can be found lecturing on the TED website, as well as on the Colbert Report a week or so ago, you can find it on Comedy Central's website.
Personally, I would like to be able to signup to be toward the top of the list when Nisson or Renault gets close to making these cars available over here in HI, but I can find nothing concrete, Nisson has no info either. Any leads?
Thanks and Aloha, Christy

Aloha,
Aloha from Kaua'i!
Very excited that Better Place is on its way to Hawai'i!
I've been searching the BP website and the web for more information on the progress of the project in Hawai'i and have not found very adequate resources. Any advice to where I should look or who I could speak with? I have just moved back to the island and trying to play catch up! I am a recent graduate in Environmental and Global Studies and am very interested in getting involved to help BP work on the islands. Hawai'i is a very unique place with a very unique system and culture that BP will have to work with, and be sensitive to, for a successful outcome!

Aloha All,
I've made the move out of the mortgage industry and into the Solar Energy. Just started working as the Sales Mgr for Hi-Tech Plumbing Corp. (www.hitechplumbingcorp.com) which sells, installs and services solar water heater and solar PV systems. This is the future for all of us especially my two sons and their children. Glad to see our federal & state governments deeply committed.

Hello
writing from Europe, Slovenija
We are presently doing our best to join the BP officialy, but need better contact with BP representatives. Weve allready completed most of the research, we fit perfectly into the scheme (41km/day average commute, towns less than 100km apart, more than 100% night time electricity surplus, 24% renewable energy, smart grid in place, investors ready...)

we just need the right folks from BetterPlace to talk to at this point, so we can start the formal evaluation process...
May I inquire who are the BP representatives working with your effort to join? Can you connect us? Is there any work in progress allready, installing BP infrastrucuter in Hawaii, can it be seen?
Am I annoying yet :)?
Anyway, thank you for any information you might be able to send our way and congrats for the initiative!

best regards
Vladimir
