I would love a high speed train connecting all corners of New York State. I believe it would help greatly with unemployment. The good jobs are usually in the bigger cities. The laid-off and uneducated would have a chance to get a job in similar comp…

hEY ssssssssOTO;
This Bloom Box will be GREAT for electric cars.Any where there is natural gas,bio mass gas or an other energy source you can make electricity...to recharge batteries.There was an unveiling yesterday on the 24th at the eBay campus where they produce biomass gas to supply power to their units,500 kw I think.ARNOLD,our Governor was there,CEO's from 10 or so local firms and K.R.Sridhar(CEO of Bloom Energy pictured below) made a speech & talked about his company and how he expects to provide electric power in the poorest of countries using what ever energy source is available.They call them Energy Servers......and the 5 of them pictured at eBay have saved the company $100,000 in just 9 months.Inside the box,the solid Oxide Fuel Cells operate at high temperatures.....and they say .....produce electricity for .08-to .10 cents a kilo watt hour,which is cheaper than .11 cents for coal fired power production.Cost is the bottom line,but,will they be reliable....???
The Energy Servers at a Google server site have been operating there for the last 18 months with 98% efficiency.....As of yesterday the whole world is scrutinizing this company.

The speech was 20 min long and I will try to get the link and put it onto the discussion.

I am hopping things are well for you.....

Saludos

sOTO; Big unveiling this morning.This company called Bloom Energy has developed a fuel cell that can produce electricity inexpensively.They stack hundreds of them into a SUV sized box,feed in air and Natural Gas and the natural gas is not burned as it is in Natural Gas Plants to drive generators.The Natural Gas is ionized,electrons are stripped off which becomes electricity and water vapor and hydrogen gas are the byproducts along with about half as much carbon dioxide as would occur if cumbustion took place.check out,www.bloomenergy.com for details.I wrote about it as well and have links to a 60 Minutes segment and some articles that were written in magazines on my Better Place page

Saludos amigo,

Peter

Thanks for the nice Christmas greetings,and it sounds like your having some good learning experiences.I have been working in Mill Valley lately...ugh.Massive solar power plants being planned for California where PG&E a power provider is actually planning on building one for itself rather than having outside contractors do the work...That is impressive.
Less than a week until....2010.....!!
Best wishes,
Peter

hEY ssssssssssOTO; T.Boon Picken's also has a company called Clean Energy Fuels that has most of the CNG fill up stations out side of California, I told you about already.The price of the stock,CLNE,got down to about $3 or $4 last year but is up to $14 less than 12 months later.He started the company and buys up the competition,then raises prices.Kind of like Wal Mart comes in,then charges less for everything and causes local merchants to suffer.That is the Bad side,the good side is he goes to far away places where no CNG stations exist at all and puts one in,making it so poeple who never had access,get some.In California he has to compete against the Local Utility Companies which sell to every houshold both electricity and gas.The State Utilities have prices that are mandated by the State of California,so,Pickens has horrible competition here.Any way,check out this electric car,it is like a Tesla Roadster at about 1/2 price.One company makes fiberglass copies of classic Porshes that you can purchase without a motor and this other gets one of the "Rollers" and puts in and Electric Motor, expensive Lithium Iron Batteries,and da wiring.

The coal disaster in Tennesee

It's too bad ^^^. I really dislike coal.

Pretty cool if you ask me. This is an iFrame. But it displays Bush's abysmal environmental track record.
And this video sums up everything that has been going down in Tennessee (well, almost everything).
