This is great news. I have been thinking about how to introduce electric cars to the public. The biggest obstacles for electric cars are cost and range anxiety. An Oregon man designed a single passenger, 3 wheeled, urban transporter that can travel…

Sonoma's Electric Car + Plug-Station community demo project

For years I've been following the migration to hybrid then electric plugin forms of transportation - sparked by meeting NREL's Terry Penney who has long worked as an astute advocate in this area. Now I am delighted to see nearby that Sonoma will join Amsterdam & elsewhere for a demo community, involving plug in stations and 1,000 electric vehicles

Hi Anderson,

Its a great initiative to save both for energy and mankind.
If we focus on the need and demand of the world population, this will be a great advantage.
More Than 65% of world population are in poor countries, think about them and the productions cost should be reasonable that means they can afford to buy the products. They should be the Target Group of the products.

Thanks

Kare... this is really interesting...
http://www.sayitbetter.com/

the timing is good ... San Jose isn't too far behind with their charging stations AND now eBike lockers downtown at VTA light rail stations. Ecology Action and People Power has done a good job for years doing surveys and working with bike communities to plan bike racks and lockers. Originally they weren't going to support eBikes. Glad something changed there. There are natural ties between the Sonoma & Santa Cruz areas...many people have family and friends in both areas.

This summer I'm doing the opposite.... learning more about the Silicon Valley. The night life here is really noteable and Castro Street in Mountain View where Cal Train & VTA meet offers access to the entire world. Blast Passes gave special discounts and you see lots of bikes on VTA this summer...mine included. And YES we really sweat sometimes at over 100 degrees. Goes with the territory but I wanted to really learn the routes and how they work together so I'm hanging in there. Electric cars will be SO important for certain trips, will be glad when we have more that can go at freeway speeds to meet the challenge of our very long valley. ZIP car could really get some miles on intervals that take over 4 hours off the main drag. In fact, some trips are faster on a bike! Especially with motor.
Sadly had to miss my friends who came down from Sonoma County to Laguna Seca yesterday... today's my last day to choose my move and I'm catching a bullet train to SF... and Sausalito. I've planned this trip for weeks and will finally leave early enough to get there.
I wasted too much time this week not understanding the changing bus and train schedules.
So I'm off to enjoy my own life and let Ecology Action figure things out with San Jose. They have easy access with the 17 Express from Santa Cruz.
