I am always thrilled to read about electric vehicles in or near Santa Cruz, CA.!
Eli
Im wondering how to market a system I have that allows an electric vehicle to travel an almost unlimited amount of miles. No pluging -in to recharge and not a hybrid. By the way I love my city washington d.c. For the time being however I am in texas stationed on fort hood.
You asked about our project for low income groups... I'm back in Santa Cruz for the last week working again behind the scenes with Dohna Dunderdale at the Made in Santa Cruz...she met with FEMA to introduce the ECOFlex heating & cooling pillow... a natural alternative for crisis management. Chilled in the freezer they can reduce the body temperature to safe levels. Heated in the microwave for 3 minutes they provide relaxing comfort for shoulders. MISC has sold over 30,000 to very satisfied customers mostly by word of mouth. The savings on the utility bill can range from 20% to 40%... an excellent value since this low tech heating pillow is made with cotton and organic rice and costs only $30 and is accessible to anyone. Many women work at home sewing these pillows who otherwise would find barriers to employment or be at risk leaving home.
Last winter I shared with you some of the artisans who are so talented locally. We're working on a single level bike locker system that saves 60% footprint... durable and of course affordable. Low tech for green collar jobs. This system can be configured to create a kiosk as requested. The Palo Alto bike group did such a nice job on the Washington DC / Stanford project which is ideal for locations where it is affordable. Nice to see a wide range of products coming to the market with a common goal to save energy.
I've been following your writings...thank you for this. Saves asking.
Much different than I'd imagined from the drawings.

Thank-you very much for sharing the work of scientist and poet Sandra Steingraber and bringing her book to light. She reminders me of aquatic biologist, scientist, ecologist and writer of the famous book "Silent Spring", Rachael Carson who is best known for bringing up the destructive effects of indiscriminate use of poisonous chemical sprays which even caught the attention of President Kennedy and opened up controversial and sometimes heated arguments especially among the chemical producing manufacturers.
Her discovery was an eye opener for the nation and I have great respect and admiration for Rachael Carson's work. I checked out scientist Sandra Steingraber's book on AMAZON per your recommendation and looked at the table of contents. She confirms through her research what many of us know and suspect and anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer that there is an intimate link between the environment and cancer in addition to genetic predisposition or habits that increase risk in acquiring it.
Rachel Caron shared something very powerful in one of her books entitled "Help Your Child to Wonder". Carson said something that rings every true and is best brought to memory as we embrace the green revolution and a powerful reminder
"If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in." Rachel Louise Carson, legendary environmentalist and ecologist in her book "Help Your Child
Wonder". She encouraged parents to take their children for a walk to explore our amazing world so they may learn to appreciate Mother Nature.
Having been brought up by the sea and in a part of the world where there are rainforests, I can most definitely identify with Carson's writing and am a great advocate of eco-literacy and eco-intelligence, a theme of this site because in order to embrace a green lifestyle and truly be an advocate of it, we must first embrace our world with wonder.
Both Dr. Goleman and I see in the table of contents of Sandra Steingraber's new book which I have yet to read but definitely hope to obtain a copy in the near future, a section devoted to "Your Right To Know".
We have always had the power as consumers to drive and demand change. Let's exercise our "right to know" as consumers. Seventh Generations places this on the label of their products which is one of the reasons I purchase them and something Dr.Goleman brings up in his book "Ecological Intelligence". Glad to see Sandra following in Rachel and Goleman's footsteps and to see these advocates leading the way demanding bringing awareness to public rights and disclosure.
